David’s own shame runs through Psalm 25, met by the intimacy with God promised in verse 14 to those who fear him. Christ has already borne the shame of all the elect, which is what makes that intimacy possible at all. The same order holds in marriage and family: husbands, wives, and children love each other best by loving God first.
