Christ appears in Revelation 5 as both lion and lamb at once, an image that only makes sense once Isaiah’s own lamb has already been introduced. The lamb figure offends us more than we usually admit, weakness where we expect strength. The servant in 53:7-12 is that same silent lamb, dying precisely so that his own lambs might be exalted.
