"Eternity" Tagged Sermons
The Lord functions as real refuge in the danger described in verses 1-3, present help for a present threat. Verses 4-6 look further out, to dwelling in God’s house forever, already true and not yet fully realized. The man born blind in John 9 lives that same tension, given real sight now while still waiting for something fuller.
The watchman waiting through the night for dawn in verse 4 pictures the psalmist’s own longing for eternity to break in. Verses 1-3 move from eternity toward the psalmist; verses 4-6 move the psalmist back toward eternity, a real structural reversal. Christ himself stands at the center of that longing, the dawn the psalmist cannot yet see but trusts is coming.
