Romans 3:23 and 11:32 frame the letter’s whole scope: all under sin, all objects of God’s mercy, which is not the same claim as universalism and should not be confused with it. Two false views current in the modern church are set against that framing. Both, in different ways, exalt race, gender, or class above Christ as the category that finally matters.
