A tithe rightly understood is not a tax but an acknowledgment that Christ is King over everything a household has, which is also why children need to be taught to give and not just told to. Genesis 14 and Hebrews 7 supply the pattern of giving to a priest-king that the tithe still follows. Christ gave everything, and that example, not a percentage, is the real standard.
