Israel’s spiral downward continues under Ahaziah, who turns to Beelzebub rather than the Lord even in his own crisis. The Lord’s single prophet, unarmed and outnumbered, defeats Ahaziah’s captains and companies one after another. That same rejection of the true God’s own messengers runs straight through to the Jews’ later rejection of the gospel.
